Don’t buy artificial bottles filled with sugar from the store. You only need two ingredients to make a smooth, rich coffee liqueur at home. It takes less time and tastes much better than takeout.
Material
You don’t need a complicated Pantry for this. Just take:
- a bottle of vodka (normal 700 ml is best)
- 250 g of ground coffee
That’s it. No syrup. No fancy blenders. Only strong coffee and spirits.
Process
Pour all the ground coffee directly into the vodka bottle. Be sure to close it tightly.
Place the bottle in a cool, dark cabinet. Leave it for 10 days.
The trick is not to ignore it. Shake the bottle every few days. This allows the alcohol to separate the oils and flavors evenly from the coffee grounds. If left completely untreated, the infusion may become uneven. But you don’t have to worry about it.
After 10 days, the liquid becomes black and opaque. This means it’s done.
Customize and serve
Pour the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. We want to remove the grounds in every corner. A cheesecloth will give you a clearer liquid, but if you’re in a hurry, you can use a fine-mesh strainer.
The result is a thick, aromatic liqueur.
Serve over ice. Or add to your morning coffee for a pick-me-up. Some people mix it with dark chocolate chips to make a dessert-like dessert.
Put in the fridge. It lasts several months.
Why make your weekend difficult when you can get better drinks than most bars by waiting a few days? Your taste buds will surely thank you.
